Hi, I’m Maryetta Jones.
I’m so glad you found us here at The Wallflower Academy.
For as long as I can remember, flowers have captivated me. Whether it was my mother’s gardens, Sunday family drives through wildflower fields, or the buckets of blooms at the grocery store. Flowers are dear to me.
I hold a BA in Art History and furthered my education in Graphic Design, Communications, and Marketing. My Graphic Design Firm thrived in Toronto for 17 years, and I taught part-time at Seneca College for 6 years in design principles, elements, and color theory.
After 20 years in Interior Design, with flowers always present, I knew they were my true calling.
Upon retiring, I embraced the flower business. My vision: a year-round flower market supporting local farmers, focusing on "grown, not flown" blooms. This vision blossomed into Fiori Row, where my skills built a brand and a beautiful brick-and-mortar shop.
This led to the creation of The Wallflower Academy, an online learning platform where I share my passion and pass on my floral knowledge. Watching others grow their passion for flowers is immensely rewarding.
My mission is to create spaces that appeal to every sense—abundant, overflowing, and accessible—cultivating a bountiful sense of being and belonging. Our community is the “Starry Eyed Flower Child.”
